Grades 11 & 12 – William Randolph Hearst Youth Senate Program – Open to juniors and seniors nominated by the Principal must be a permanent resident of the United States and currently enrolled in a public secondary school. The qualities needed are leadership, academic achievement, clear speech and logical thought processes and community involvement.

Cumberland Farms - Believe and Achieve Scholarship Open to college-bound seniors. The program qwards about 80 individual scholarships of $1,000 to students in the Northeast and Florida. The Believe and Achieve Scholarship program is open to students who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms. Applications can be submitted online through . http://www.cumberlandfarms.com. SAE Engineering Scholarships – various engineering scholarships are available students must be enrolled in a program accredited by ABET, be a high school senior and meet requirements with regard to GPA, SAT and/or ACT scores outlined in the individual scholarship descriptions, located on the SAE website.

KFC Colonel's Scholars ( New Scholarship)KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board. To qualify, graduating high school seniors must: - earn a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75, enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, be a US. citizen and demonstrate financial need.

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPAre you active in your community? Have you led a project that benefits others? Have you overcome personal challenges? Toyota Community Scholars Program – The school nominates one senior who demonstrates outstanding academics, leadership, and community and school service. Toyota awards 100 renewable scholarships in the amounts of $10,000 and $20,000 over four years.

Burger King Scholars – available to seniors, nominated by a school administrator, the student must meet this criteria: GPA of 2.5 to 3.5, works, 15 hours per week, demonstrates participation in community service, financial need, can obtain 2 recommendations, and will be attending 2 or 4 year college or university.

Vermont Junior Chamber of Commerce International Senate –
(15) $1,000 scholarships available to seniors who plan to continue their education at a post secondary college in the United States.

Elk’s National Foundation, Most Valuable Student Scholarship Competition –
Available to seniors who are US Citizens, applications must advance through local competitions. The criteria for the scholarship are scholarship – 450 points; leadership – 350 points; and financial need – 200 points.

The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program - Grades 9 - 12
The purpose of The American Legion High
School Oratorical Scholarship Program "A Constitutional Speech Contest"
is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution
of the United States on the part of high school students. Other
objectives of the contest include the
development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak
clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of duties
and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.
National Scholarships awarded annually
are in the amount of $138,000. In order to reach the National Contest,
contestants must participate at the High School, District and State
Level.

Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America – Available to juniors and seniors with asthma or significant allergies who plan to attend college. There are 2 $500 scholarships. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Vermont State Association of Emblem Clubs – Available to seniors and open to the public, applications must be accompanied by a transcript, 2 letters of recommendation and SAT scores.

New England Federal Credit Union - Nursing Scholarship Program - Three scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $3,000. Applicants must be NEFCU members and be applying to or already enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Reguirements include submission of the application form; high school transcript, college transcript or General Education Degree, and a description of related work experience; and a maximum 250 word essay about how you will use this degree tocontribute to community success.

Golub Foundation Annual Scholarship Awards Available to students who live within the Price Chopper marketing area. There are nine scholarships available, the criteria is different for each scholarship. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) – sponsored by America’s Diary Farmers and Milk Processors and USA today. The scholarship recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 with an award of $7500, a weekend at Disney World and an ad in USA Today. The criteria is academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and milk experience. Teachers, guidance counselors, athletic directors, or other students can nominate the student.

Rutland County Retired Teacher’s Association Scholarship – available to students who are pursuing a career in education as well as a student pursuing an associate’s degree in early childhood education or a degree needed to work as a para-educator. This scholarship in the amount of $200 will be sent to the recipient’s school at the beginning of the second semester of attendance.

The Humane Society of the United States Shaw Worth Memorial Scholarship -
Each year the scholarship is awarded to a New England high school senior who has made a meaningful contribution to animal protection over a significant period of time. The award consists of tution assistance in the amount of $2,000, which is payable to the college or university at which the recipient will be marticulating.

Rutland South Rotary Student Scholarship –
Any student who has been accepted to a college. Scholarships are awarded to all area schools. The first place scholarship is $1000.00 and the second place scholarship is $750.00. Students must write an essay and participate in a personal interview with Rotary members. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Town of Rutland Scholarship -
The applicant must have resided in the Town of Rutland for at least TWO years prior to the date of graduation. Awards will be made on the basis of scholarship, leadership ability, and financial need. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Sicilian-American Society Scholarship –
Available to any high school senior of Sicilian descent that will graduate from any Rutland County high school, or any child or grandchild of a member of the Rutland Chapter of the Sicilian-American Society who plan to further their education on a full-time basis in an accredited institution of higher learning. Available to seniors who have demonstrated an interest in civic participation and community service. The awards range from $00 to $500.

American Legion of Vermont Scholarships- (Updated on 10/20/09)
Open to seniors whose parents are legal residents of Vermont. Applicants must have been accepted at an approved and accredited college. There are four scholarships: Charles Barber - $1,000; Ray Greenwood - $1,500; and 10 scholarships of $500. Applications are available at http://www.legionvthq.com/programs.html

Vermont State Colleges Community Service Scholarship – available to seniors who will attend one of the VT State Colleges and show commitment to community service. Five $1,000 scholarships are given.

Chittenden Bank Scholarship –
Available to a senior who is accepted in a 2 or 4 year program of studies, student must maintain a 3.0 average. The scholarship award is for $2,500. Students should apply at VSAC, 800-642-3177, and ask for a Unified Scholarship application.

Pittsford Masonic Association Scholarship – Open to high school senior who are resident of Pittsford or Chittenden. Omya Industries, Inc. - Scholarship
Available to graduating seniors who are planning to pursue a post-secondary education in a field of science or engineering.
Students will submint, along with a completed application form (available in the guidance office): Two letters of recommendation, a copy of a high school transcript and a personal essay describing one important activity or experience, in which you have played a leadership role, that has or will have an effect on your future goals.

Vermont Grocers’ Association Scholarship –
Applicant must be a Vermont resident, plan to attend an accredited two or four-year postsecondary school, demonstrate financial need and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be the dependent of a VGA associate or be an employee of a VGA store. The employee must work a minimum of 15 hours per week or 750 hours per year.

Vermont Golf Association Scholarship –
Scholarships will be granted annually not to exceed the four years that the recipient is enrolled in college. The Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund will annually determine the amount of the scholarships, which at present are $1,000.00 per year awards. Applicants must be a resident of the State of VT, must be in the top 40% of their graduating class, and must be enrolled in or accepted as a full- time student at a college or university of their choice. Applicant finalist are required to attend an interview. Criteria used for selection are scholarship, connection to golf, and need. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Sons of the American Legion –
Any student who is planning to attend a trade school or technical college, and whose, Grandfather, Grandmother, Father, or Mother is a member of the American Legion Family. Selection will be based upon a variety of considerations. Applications are available in the guidance office.

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship - The fund offers renewable, 4-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic excellence, a commitment to serving others in school, the community or at home, and a strong work ethic. Awards are limited to residents of New England states. Available to a Rutland County high school senior who has exhibited a high level of proficiency and interest in the video arts and intends to pursue study in the communications field at an accredited college, university or trade school.

Frederic Duclos Barstow Scholarship –
Available to students who attended Barstow school. Students must submit the following: A personal statement as to why they desire the scholarship, a transcript of high school and post-secondary work taken to date of application, a description of extra-curricular, school, and community activities and any other information that would help the interviewing committee evaluate a student.

Available to a graduating high school senior who will be attending college in the fall, majoring in a service related field. Student must be in the top 20% of his/her class. John A. Russell, Sr. Engineering Scholarship –
Available to a young man or young man that has a desire to pursue engineering or the construction related field and has shown a willingness to work hard in order to achieve that goal. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Price Chopper Supermarkets Scholarship-
Available to juniors and seniors who are employed by Price Chopper. Each year a student applies and wins the dollar amount increases. Scholarships begin at $500 and can increase to $2,000.

GRADUATION SCHOLARSHIPS LOCAL AWARDS
(To be voted on by faculty)
Abbott Scholarship – by making noteworthy progress during high school his or her senior year evidences of abilities and qualities worthy of further development, and has the desire for such development, but has not the scholastic average for the entire four years, that are high enough to qualify for other scholarships offered to the highest ranking students; or shows outstanding talent in some special field but not the all-around high ranking scholastic average, but still has worthy qualities and the desire for further development along his or her lines; and in any case, needs financial assistance to pursue further educational training. The faculty nominates candidates and the bank trustees of the Abbott fund make the final decision.
Jonathon C. Southmayd Scholarship – must be a senior who has been accepted at a two or four year college. Exemplifies in the opinion of high school faculty, the character and spirit of Jonathan Southmayd as a person: of ambition and vision, of breadth of concern and of caring, of energy and resolve, of fortitude and faith.
Jason Pentek Memorial Scholarship – staff must nominate tree individuals. The requirements are: demonstrate strong leadership potential, and unselfish attitude toward his or her fellow man, gradate of Proctor High School, resident of Proctor, pursue a course of study in math, physics or engineering, enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning, and receive the contribution on a one time basis.
Proctor Petrofi Hungarian Society Scholarship – staff must nominate three individuals. The requirements are: strong leadership potential, unselfish attitude toward his or her fellow man, graduate from Proctor High School, resident of Proctor for five years, pursue a course of study in math, business, foreign language, vocational or science; enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning and receive the contribution on a one time basis.
Marfuggi Scholarship – from a selection committee composed of the Principal, Guidance Director, and senior class advisor, the criteria is: whose parents are not college graduates, who has displayed a willingness to perform volunteer service to the community during his or her years at Proctor High School, and accepted for fall enrollment at an accredited university, college or vocational school.
Frank J. Mainolfi Scholarship – this scholarship is given annually to a senior of good moral standing and accepted at a 4 year college. |
